I think Distortion belongs in the "great" column.

The Death of Ferdinand De Saussure and Sweet Lovin' Man are two of my top picks.

I believe it's "Stranger Than Paradise." Also, what about Night On Earth?

I thought the father was more to blame in A Separation when I saw it.

Huh. I think it might be Jarmusch's best.

Except Popeye is a good movie.

Dang, this reviewer really went to this with a chip on their shoulder.

Stand By Gene. The Hormone-iums. I also thought the Tina episode about horse camp was great.

I liked Meryl a lot.

Really nice vocal performances from them as well.

They went so far with the "Admiral is a fake" arc, and Bob was so funny as the fake Admiral, that I started to go with it even though I was pretty sure Louise was reaching with her theory. The show has its characters disappointed constantly, after all.

I believe it was actually "hello, mother."

Howard's End and The Crying Game are great movies. Malcolm X is better, though.

Yep. It's set for August.

Really glad we're getting a legit release of this great film finally. Criterion is the perfect place for it, not just because there's already a killer edition of this film's early-90's Altman comeback sibling, "Short Cuts." I'm ordering this very soon.

Heh, I liked the Nutty Professor and Dr. Doolittle sequels for what they were.

Thank God Criterion is putting out McCabe & Mrs. Miller soon so I can replace my snapcase of that one.

She and Lyle Lovett are really good as the condescending cops who are absolutely sure Griffin is their man. I actually don't remember how Mille gets out of it (need to order this soon).

Not to mention The Right Stuff and Short Cuts.

The only possible other winner that year would be Spike Lee for Malcolm X. I'm not even sure he was nominated, though.
