My only requirement is that it is still at least reminiscent of the original and maintains a little of the magic that made the original so great. If it feels too disconnected, I get the sense that it was just called that for name recognition. Obviously that isn't an issue with D3 or MP3, just speaking generally.

And that's definitely a valid opinion. I played both and while I really enjoyed the rad combat animations in Amalur, I enjoyed Skyrim as a whole much more. It's all flavors of ice cream. I have yet to try TW2 though, I keep hearing good things.

I wonder how many free drinks and excused speeding tickets she gets just by blinking her eyes.

I think generally it depends on how sparingly it's used. If it's every 2 minutes for a very common task like every time you need to open a door, it's annoying as hell. If it's once or twice every 30-40 minutes when the character is struggling with something, that's totally cool.

They did. They gave her softer features and made her look a bit younger. IGN is putting up a Q&A with ND about that a bit later today.

Not disagreeing, I'm just curious - where did you get the info from?

Sadly, they're only doing what works. If this tactic weren't successful and buffed up brodudes were, you bet that's what would be dominating E3. The thing is that it's always been a successful marketing tool - especially at places like this where the ratio of males to females attending is so skewed.

I don't think that's what he was saying at all. His explanation was very simple. His point was that if you're going to call out something for being sub-par, be civilized and explain your reasoning. It wasn't that someone shouldn't speak up when a service that they've paid for wasn't up to snuff. He said that multiple

Lame this year or not, I'm sure I'll still find it exciting - it'll be my first E3! I've gone to GDC the past couple of years and I'm decided I won't miss one going forward. It's just too much fun being around so many like-minded people.

Well the reason I typically try (often unsuccessfully) to avoid it is the same reason this video was made - it's overused. It's just way too cliche at this point. Just like the classic "I dunno" shrug: [i.imgur.com] and the "I have an idea!" finger point: [i.imgur.com] . Seriously google "got an idea" and 90% of

Seriously... It pains me to say it, but as an animator, it is so hard not using this pose when animating a character that's supposed to be heroic or badass. It's so tough to avoid. I've always heard it called the Blade pose.

Thank you for this. This made my day. These lyrics, while totally absurd, are way better than that Ron Paul version.

I'd say don't count on it. I wouldn't rule it out, but it definitely isn't a given just because the trailer is rendered in the engine. It's still a cinematic trailer, meant to be more dramatic than representative. We'll see though, that'd be pretty sweet.

Hehe you're not much of an art guy are you? Color palette, intensity, vibrancy, contrast, shape language, level of detail, areas for sharp/soft textures, camera focus, level of atmospheric perspective, etc. Anyone who has played Skyrim would be able to pick out any Skyrim screenshot immediately from a group.

You're talking about the actual categories of objects/characters in the game. Lots of fantasy settings have those. We're discussing the art direction. I posted this in response to Kelpto`1, but I think it's still relevant to your comment.

While I agree it doesn't quite look like WoW and is more generic, I will say that it looks more WoW than Elder Scrolls.

My thoughts exactly. It isn't the level of detail that bothers me about the screenshot, it's the art direction. There's nothing about it that says TES to me.

I think the point was more about how there's nothing in that screenshot that looks unique to The Elder Scrolls. If I saw that screenshot without context, I would have no idea where it came from because it looks like a lot of the other fantasy MMOs out there. It lacks the Elder Scrolls look.

I'm not sure I would use the words "beginning stage" necessarily because they've said that they've been working on it for a few years already. I do agree that we don't know enough to judge fairly.
