Hah awesome, you've really been around! I've only gotten my hands dirty with mocap for the past 3-4 months or so. So after 11 years, do you still dig the job?

I like you. You say the things I'm thinking. Were/are you an animator?
I definitely don't want to undersell the mocap actors, but I agree. And it isn't just a matter of fixing pops and mocap weirdness, there's a huge amount of work that goes into the animations after the raw data comes in. Often times motions are a mixture of mocap and hand-keyed stuff because the captured stuff is never…
Haha I'm pretty sure they had both IK and FK ;) But I like the term-drop. I agree that while the mocap actors do provide a lot, there's a tremendous amount of work to be done on the capture data by the animators.
Hah wow I think you're drastically underestimating the challenge acting can be. If anyone could do the same, why don't they? I'm sure he makes great money.
Facial animations in games, outside of very few games (LA Noire), are hand keyed - not captured. All facial animation in the Uncharted series is hand keyed. Are you sure there was facial capture in Enslaved? I don't know enough about the game to say. Not disagreeing or anything, just making the clarification about…
I agree that Bethesda is doing things right, in general, thus far. I like the radiant quest system etc. and I'm loving the game so far. But I don't think adding variety to the dungeons is a bad idea at all. They are all extremely similar. They shouldn't reduce the number of them, but make a few different types of them…
Agree with you, but what do you mean fix the game?
Hahaha that's fantastic. Also, white one for me!
I have yet to see a movie based on video game IP that I would truly call successful. I love the Resident Evil moves because they're great popcorn movies, but do they even begin to capture the feel of the games? Not even close.
Yeah, it's less realistic given the environment, for sure. I actually really like it though. I find the extra color really appealing, so I'm happy to see these options available. Luckily, you can tune it to your preferred settings so everyone is happy.
Righteous side-boob in the shower scene. Yes.
A lot of the shouts aren't even in the main story quests. There's plenty in side quest storylines. So, side quest on my friend!
You may want to play at least a couple of the early missions for the main quest in order to enable the dragons and dragon shouts. A Skyrim experience without those wouldn't be nearly as good.
They do, often much larger, but they don't release those versions publicly. If there's ever an art book, it'd be tough to sell if all of the materials were out there to make your own for free.
Whether the second half of that is true or not, I'd pay money to see someone eat an entire dictionary.
Hmm... It looks a lot like he was taking a really impressive piss when he was lining up the bomb trajectory around 6:22. Someone didn't think that pose through very well.
Honestly curious here - compared to what similar parkour/open world games?
Batman's animations aren't actually that sophisticated. The combat ones anyway. They're fairly gamey since he can quickly snap and slide given that you have to be able to punch/kick, counter, repeat etc. very quickly.
I'm not quite sure I follow that logic. Don't misunderstand, if you feel that way, cool, no big deal. I just don't quite follow. If this is going to be a good addition to Brotherhood - which you really liked - why no interest? Honest question.
