False equivalencies all over the place in this thread. Neither football or boxing is safe. Arguing that one is safer based on a comparison to the other is pointless.

Boxing’s ultimate goal is in fact to deliver a brain injury to the opponent, euphemistically called a “knockout”. Adding thick, padded boxing gloves

Same. I used to live and breath NFL football, and now don’t watch a single down.

I grew up mainly watching boxing, the NFL, and hockey, before bringing shame to my family by playing soccer and running and coaching track.

This. So many broken down fighters who can’t string a sentence longer than 4 words by the time they turn 50. Frankly, football will be gone too. It knocks something like 25 years off the average lifespan.

Couldn’t the same thing be said about football?

At what point do we just say boxing shouldn’t be a thing anymore?  I wonder if in 50 years people will look back in disbelief that this sport even existed in the 21st century.

Not if they kick out the VP too and we get President Pelosi.

Even if trump were going somewhere his replacement would be equally horrible.

That's some quality pandering. If Trump isn't gone by November 2020 and Democrats make me vote for this fartclown, I might swallow my tongue.

The repubs are awful because they circle the wagons around any of their own being attacked from the outside. But we take the high road, which will always let us look down on the winners with disdain.

Sigh. The irony of all this impeachment noise is that Trump didn't need stuff to hurt Biden's image. He's capable of doing that himself. Hopefully the Biden people come to the light and join the Warren train and we can get this done.

I think it’s important to note on every article about how much Angel Hernandez sucks that he is suing MLB for racial discrimination because he didn’t get enough post-season assignments, which are handed out on merit to umpires who don’t suck.

The Phillies sent Nick Pivetta, their Number Two Starter—of a team that intends to make the playoffs—to AAA after allowing 40 baserunners in four starts. Meanwhile their biggest FA signing (David Robertson) went on the IR with a flexor sprain. These developments leave them with Keuchel- and Kimbrel-shaped holes in

One of the things Tony Clark absolutely has to get out of the next bargaining agreement is the removal of draft pick compensation being tied to the qualifying offer. It’s just absolutely sank a number of players markets in the previous years. I think a big part of the reason the Cubs aren’t in on Kimbrel is them

This is just like when my wife gets mad at me about a dream she had. I don’t know the solution, but I definitely recognize the problem.

*Literally every team* could use both Keuchel and Kimbrel. There is no team in the game so impossibly stacked with pitching talent that Keuchel isn't better than their fifth starter, or Kimbrel isn't better than the seventh or eighth guy out of the pen.

I would offer that the Red Sox could use both Keuchel and Kimbrel right now.

But it sure is going to brag about how close it got!

You sir, are playing the most dangerous game. Maybe try this free climbing thing--you know, something less apt to get you dead.

Pinnacle of human achievement? Meh, you’ve never seen me repeat back exactly what my wife just told me even though I am clearly not listening.
