I’m so excited but also nervous. This game requires a particular state of mind to get through, and even then there’s a lot of luck involved in having a good run. Beating it was a major triumph, but I’ve never even come close to reaching the true ending [NO Spoilers for those who need to catch up]. So I guess I know

Kotaku isn’t saying it, Nintendo is. It’s part of a new press release package. There’s no way to filter or sort the titles, either. Kotaku’s copy/pasted exactly what was presented. This isn’t an investigative report. It’s sharing brand-new PR. I’d say that’s them doing their job just fine.

This can’t be true. I look at Nintendo’s Twitter replies all the time, and all those diehard fans are saying Nintendo’s going down the toilet because they didn’t announce a new Direct in the past 2 hours and Waluigi has yet to make it to smash. Either those very reasonable, with-it people are wrong, or their

This is bad sportsmanship. The game literally dropped on Steam two days ago. I suppose I wouldn’t have discovered it myself since there’s no way I’d buy $8 DLC for a free game, but all the coverage of it in the immediate wake of its release still feels like ruining the fun.

Why do shoes like these look like they were designed by people who don’t wear shoes nor play video games?

People who still play this game: what, exactly, are you doing in it? Once I fully upgraded my house I was like “Welp, now this is pointless.”

“This is why Trump is gonna win” is the new “Thanks Obama”

“I’m not sure ____ is the progressive message you think it is”

Yeah I always get the “this guy is overrated” alert in my head when I watch anything with Mulaney. I get that he’s charming and has some great delivery, but he can also be super uncreative. He relies way too much on his white guy/dad-joke charm instead of actual sharp observations. His host turn on SNL this march was

I feel like Dead Space, of all games, hit upon a brilliant idea that unfortunately went nowhere: the use of 100% diegetic elements to communicate information that would normally be framing the screen. Isaac’s health bar was his suit, and ammo was displayed upon screens fixed to the weapons themselves. I wish more devs

That’s was a big letdown. I’d say this whole post had no value except rewatching the Mulaney bit, which is still funny and enjoyable.

This mandate is psychotic. I would refuse to work on a “creative” project with such limitations. If Nintendo is so damn protective of it’s not-all-that-compelling Mario IP/branding, then it should shelve everything but the core Mario platformers and be done with it. To me, it sounds like corp lawyers are afraid that

I vehemently disagree with the premise that Link Between Worlds deserves praise for anything other than its dungeon designs. Its biggest sin was chopping up the overworld into mini platform-type levels, completely destroying any sense of environmental cohesion.

That’s CIB and graded, but you can get a shitton for the cartridge alone. I’d sell it, buy a copy of Earthbound, and keep the rest. At least Earthbound’s a game worth playing all the way through...

My gut reaction was that “Shantae GBC’s not that rare,” but that’s coming from the perspective of when I was really into collecting carts around 2009. Back then, you could easily grab a copy for less than $50. Now it’s... 500?! Has the fucking world gone mad? I guess it’s the whole twee furry-fandom aesthetic that’s

Omg Jonathan Banks would make such a great villain. Love him in the floor is lava episode of Community

Giancarlo Esposito doesn’t get enough recognition for being Buggin’ Out in Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing. It’s such a nice contrast to Gus, too.

I’ve hated commercials since I was like 6, but when this one would come on I always tried to bask in it for the duration.

Check out a ROM of Endless Duel. It’s not the deepest fighting game, but the action is fast, moves are (mostly) easy to pull off, and the Vernier boost mechanic gives it an extra layer of interest compared to other SFII-era fighters.

Great reporting, Matt! Really well written, and I like the narrative it spins. Also, the video of you starting to use the 50 year-old-plus box alongside the creator was a surprising treat.
