I once had a 396 running open headers.  I hit a speed bump and crushed the stupid side pipes previous owner had put on the Chevelle. I had to tear them off as backpressure was putting exhaust into the car.  

No, fuck those HD bikes with loud pipes that rupture your ear drums just to get up to speed. 

Counterpoint: Aftermarket exhausts, with very few exceptions, sound completely terrible. If this was used to prevent those, I'm on board, as long as it's not catching great-sounding stock exhausts.
