Didnt see there wasnt a mountain of evidence. Infact multiple bits of Heards provided evidence was proven to be fabricated.

Deke and Flint are the kids/grandkids of the Shield characters.

Or its just a generic name for them travelling around a lot of places and absolutely nothing to do with a historical event with the same name.
