Kind of pathetic, your comment is.

Oh Robert, just because it's a touchy subject for you doesn't mean you have to trash the study.

I've never hear of Best Defense, but am probably old enough to have.

Are you sure that's the extent of their efforts?

I can offer you an explanation (and maybe I'm too tired to realize you're teasing):

I think, given the overwhelming weight of the evidence, that the Taliban's stance on girls' schooling is, in fact, not really "uncertain."

What a cool post. I love the mix of space science and history, with a peek at the application of the scientific method back in the day. I'd post something substantive about the science itself, but I'm swamped today!

Not that I'm tracking you down in these threads, rek! But you make some interesting points with which I generally disagree.

Well, Coca-Cola's business isn't closely related to disease, famine and drought. If it claimed to be, and was failing, then you'd have a better point.

I completely agree that the law is very very ripe for abuse.

I think that's not correct. I responded to bob_d with the long-winded explanation.

And my point is that nothing - nothing - in the upheld portions of the law make reasonable suspicion of unlawful immigration status, especially just being Hispanic, a reason to stop someone and require proof of immigration status.

Right - the provision that stands allows for checking immigration status of someone who has been detained or arrested for another crime. That does not permit police to demand proof of immigration status from someone minding their own business.

My point was that the UN is one of the more ineffective and corrupt organizations around. I would let it babysit my pet rock, much less put it in charge of something important like space exploration!

Por favor, please check my other reply, to Macaronic. You raise the reasonable suspicion issue ... which is:

I think my comment is not coming across clearly, because I don't actually disagree with (most of) your comment. Let me try another tack:

On what basis do you think the UN would be effective at space exploration?

"What's extra impressive about these law enforcement officials is that they can tell, just by looking, who is here legally and who is here illegally...."

    Ah, thanks!

Thank you! How weird I don't remember it.
