Kat would that "Beyonce-Free Zone" be say, the other dozen or so articles published on the site today that had absolutely nothing to do with Beyonce? I like you and your comments a lot, but I have to echo the other commenters here. Not in the objections to your opinions of the artist in question, which I support your

First of all, I am a woman, man.

The difference between Lady Gaga and Beyonce is: Beyonce doesn't pander to the homosexuals at all (like Gaga does). All she has to do is put out her music and they come to her. Her songs don't have offensive titles like Gypsy nor do they have lyrics with the words Oriental and chola. There are many other things, too.

It's like you're totally unaware of the scroll feature.

One of the things I love about her album is that it isn't just feminism, it's Black feminism. Pretty Hurts contains a call-out to beauty standards based on whiteness. Flawless contains a quote on feminism not just from a feminist, but from a Nigerian feminist.

You can probably carve out that zone for yourself by not clicking on articles that are specifically and entirely about Beyonce.

~Looks at comments~ Oh look, it's White Feminists (tm) telling another successful black female popstar that she's "doing it wrong".

Aww, you must feel so special. It really irks you to have the hard work of a black woman acknowledged and lauded for the achievement that it is, huh?

the only thing that makes me feel better is that Beyoncé is going to continue gracing this planet with her art and her presence and not giving a fuck about anyone "criticizing" (hahahaha) her. Meanwhile, you and your "opinions" (hahahahahahaha) will continue to make an impact (hahahahahahahahahaha) that is

HOW ARE PEOPLE STILL HATING ON HER? SERIOUSLY? LIKE YOU HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN CRITICIZE THIS POWERFUL BLACK WOMAN WHEN JUST A MONTH AGO YOU WERE GETTING MAD AT PEOPLE FOR "SLUT-SHAMING" MILEY CYRUS. GET OUT. JUST GET OUT.

I bet you're real fun at parties.

Thanks for sharing your perspectives on the historical context with me. I guess it didn't occur to me to frame my understanding that way, because the historical context I have as a consumer of her music (I'm not American; black, but not African-American, and have never lived in America) is different from her context

you people crack me up... this whole endeavor was obviously meant for women/the female gaze (specifically, as others have argued, the Black woman gaze). all of the songs and videos are stories that reflect her experiences as a Black woman viz her relationships w/ her family, friends, husband, baby... but yeah, ignore

A sexy, authentic version of the couples video! "This is my hot sex video where I am seriously just drunk with my husband hugging." BAM.

there's a difference between "judging a woman by her looks" and "recognizing how a woman uses her body and clothing as a venue to express herself." feminism doesn't mean everyone has to wear the same burlap sack.

1. Yes to everything except the not listening to the album part because you are missing OUT.

This was exactly what I thought of when I read about the new album this morning. If that wasn't the musical equivalent of a mic drop, I dunno what is.

This is so perf. I'm now desperately looking for excuses to buy lipstick like this and rock it under black light.

"2.) Sometimes bitches do need to bowdown. Call that a hip hop generation feminist sensibility, but it’s true. It’s just like when Papa Pope gave Fitz the read of the century last night in Scandal – “Boy, I’m literally above your paygrade.” It’s like the swag I don when academic goons try to step to me even though

Me too. I'm mostly attracted to men, but if Beyonce ever wanted some girl on girl action with me...I'd find it really hard to say no.
