those cars would have still been built by someone because there was a market for them. By your metric no business should be allowed to fail - ever.

The bailout was the worst thing that could have happened to the US auto industry. It prevented creative destruction - one or more new companies could have come out of the ruins. It bailed out the unions and protected close-shop rules. It came with government interference and pandering that continues to this day. It…
The problem with talking about the auto bailouts is that they should really be talking about the bank bailouts. Those are far more controversial.
I think there’s room to criticize the deal as not being the best deal possible for the government (who, one would think, had the upper hand at the time), but in the scheme of things this is way down the list of things taxpayers should be angry about. A few things to put this into perspective:
They get depressed.
As someone who has needed to drive 400+ miles straight with no stops longer than 20 minutes, electric cars are definately not there for me *yet*.
Good Morning! Welcome to The Morning Shift, your roundup of the auto news you crave, all in one place every weekday…
Yeah, if you read anything about Henry Ford, he failed in the beginning. Several times.
Agreed. In an ABC Nightline’s episode Deep Dive one of the interviewees said that you want to fail often and early. That way you can tell management that you’ve explored as many or all possibilities before arriving at a conclusion. Or that story about Thomas Edison and the number of filament materials he tested for…
I think if the fix, ends up not being necessary in states that do not have testing, i don’t know if those owners will care, assuming vw gives them what ever the drop in value is

Obviously the final one will be the final edition, followed by the anniversary of the final edition edition.
I read one comment from a woman who said she was sad that her cool car was a poison delivery system. I think virtually everyone else does not give even a tiny shit what they are putting into the air their kids breathe as long as their car is cool and fun and they have the satisfaction of good mpg. Most people who even…
DeLorean?
I dare you Doug. I double dare you to get a Brodozer. Any infact. You can find one on the net with endless options, and prices. Resale will be easy with all the bros out there.
Doug...don’t listen to these amateurs. For real you need a Morgan 3-wheeler. Just think of all the fun you would have driving around Philly...in a 3-Wheeler. You can even buy some silly hats and gloves.
R63 AMG
An Ariel Atom. After the completely sensible and reasonable Ferrari 360 and Nissan Skyline GT-R, you need something absurd and ridiculous. What better way to do that lose every single body panel. It will make your neighbors question your sanity and a base one can be had new for $50k. Not sure about used.
Units of measurement are tricky. Ideally, the best ones will convey not just a cold tally of some length or velocity…
