I know T. Jon ( we worked at the same company for a short time) so I’m not going to argue with him, especially since his explanation is accurate. But there is another reason.

Fun fact! Acceleration is the proper term. You either accelerate in the direction of motion, increasing velocity, or you accelerate opposite the direction of motion, decreasing velocity. Deceleration is a misnomer.

I’m right there with you. I just responded with the same sentiment above. I love the first movie, and one of the main reasons for that is how the action scales as the movie unfolds. It ramps up slowly until you get to the train/helicopter/tunnel sequence, and THAT’S when the laws of physics start to really bend.
