It was one of those rare movies where the positive and negative reviews basically read the exact same, the main difference being just how much the reviewer weighed the pros and cons. It’s apparently a very pretty film and impressively so given the budget was a fraction of the modern blockbuster. But that the story so

I can’t keep up. It seems like most streaming shows shoot for 5 seasons, but Doom Patrol got the message that this was going to be the last season. The last episode dropped just this last week and I think it sticks the landing.

You know? It mostly just reminds me of Vin Diesel’s The Chronicles of Riddick

I thought I was going crazy when I heard it was a Netflix show and Sandman spin when I distinctly remember it being an HBO Doom Patrol spin off.

Yeah, I didn’t mind that there was a new character. The games are always introducing new characters. With Lewis Tan’s character it felt like they couldn’t pick one sad dad/ failed sports movie archetype and did them all.

I thought that last Mortal Kombat really straddled the line between fun bad and bad bad. Hopefully they can workshop what worked about it.

It’s still the worst for me. Remember them turning Stellan Skarsgard’s regular scientist character into a weird joke character who forgets to wear pants, because he’s some absent minded professor cartoon character? Just an absolutely miserable attempt at humor. And then they tried to retcon it as being PTSD in one of

I’m seconding the Scavenger’s Reign rec. It essentially got dumped with minimal promotion and it really deserves better.

I thought it was going to be a streaming series until a month or two ago.

HBO released the first three episodes of Scavengers Reign yesterday. What I’ve seen so far is really promising

My big ongoing frustration with Star Wars the refusal to leave this tiny sliver of time. I guess a reboot eliminates some wiki entries I don’t like, but doesn’t solve any real issues.

I’ve been excited for this since the first trailer. It looks like the kind of imaginative, original work I want to see more of.

I keep waiting for the day we learn Snyder has cataracts like Monet

At this rate they might be better off cutting their losses and selling the rights to some other sucker

The first Pluto trailer caught my attention and then in the following weeks I noticed people speaking highly of the source material. I picked up the first volume on a whim and ended up going through the whole series in a month.
It’s a really interesting and often touching reimaging of Astroboy’s The Greatest Robot on

I’d wager anything they’re going to forget about the dime store mutants now that they have mutants

He doesn’t seem to be very precious about it

I watched it pretty recently with Blank Check’s Carpenter filmography series and it holds up pretty well. I struggle to imagine how you’d update it for modern audiences. Any older car is going to look like a toy next to some of the trucks and SUVs out there.

It’s so incredibly funny. Web3 is hanging by a thread, metaverse is just behind it and proponents of both have already mostly pivoted to AI. They might as well promise Phrenology, phlogistons, and Lamarkian evolution

They sound like a decade of YA novels placed in a blender
