The saddest thing is he never got his 30 seconds at the end of his last show to thank everyone.

I didn’t like this episode.
It really tried leaning into the comedy which seemed to be at the expense of the plot. You’ve got this reptile mom who needs transport her for eggs, and the eggs we’re told (because we have to be told) are real important. But she decides to never really be by them, this allows for baby Yoda…
The show is not subtle and it is rarely clever. There’s no reason to think the Frog Lady is anything other than she seems to be. Her motivation to protect her eggs was obviously legit.
This episode, while moderately entertaining, was just more proof (as if we needed any) that this series just has zero interest in crafting sophisticated, meaningful story arcs.
Right, it was Maurice LaMarche.
Yep!
Wait...Travis Kelce?
His broader point is generally true, although it’s easy to point to lots of examples of black men who have reached a level of success that insulates them from the consequences of their actions. Think of how many athletes are known abusers.
Finn had a solid character arc in Last Jedi, going from someone who only cared about Rey to a full-blown rebel willing to die for the cause. Po less so, but there’s still his hotshot-to-leader arc. But yeah, RoS had no idea what to do with them.
So very much this. I get the complaints, because even though he’s doing a great job for the most part, there were a couple of times in the episode when Rock’s line readings didn’t really land. But part of the point of the character is that Cannon and Senator aren’t natural gangsters. They’d be great legitimate…
One of the signs the protesters was holding at the end was cut off before reading “> Blackface,” implying Morty did something the sign holder though was worse than blackface.
The implication that Morty was doing things so heinous he managed to piss off MeToo AND GG AND did blackface simultaneously is somehow the funniest thing about this entire episode. (Close second is how Jerry just casually screws his son over without even realizing it. I knew the redo would happen, I just didn’t know…
Morty accidentally setting the save point to right when he was getting pepper sprayed was both a hilarious visual gag and a chilling reminder of a terrible thing that used to happen in video games.
This is your regular reminder that Summer is the best. Thank you for your time.
The Bechdel gag was very good, the part where Rick thinks he’s just some professor who gets suddenly killed by Vietnam PTSD-Morty was solid. This feels like one of those episodes that absolutely kills on repeat viewings for sure.
That might be the furthest I’ve ever seen a writer get up his own ass. At the very least, Harmon deserves credit for that.
The best bit is still the snake alphabet being variations on the letter “s,” which pays off in the Lincoln assassination attempt.
One potential fear- I think Comedy central undersands that part of the appeal of Rick and Morty was the long wait. But I fear they’ve taken the worst tactic- forcing the team to make epsidoes at a breakneck pace when they’re presumably athe their creative height, then releasing them in five eipsode packages every few…
I particularly loved the weirdness of the bar scene when everyone was yelling at Jerry that he wasn’t allowed to bring the rock inside (and then that he wasn’t allowed to float inside).
Also, the dragon hotboxing zoo animals is the funniest small thing I have seen in a while.
