Introducing a black character and then having a stand-in for all the story is actually a widespread complaint in media. Example, The Princess and the Frog mostly starring... a frog, and not Disney’s ballyhooed first Black Princess.

OW actually has a decent amount of ethnic diversity. 13 heroes of color (out of 32) including some less represented groups like indigenous Australians, Nigerians, and Haitians. And they do a decent amount of research for those characters, making them pretty authentic in multiple ways.…
