It’s such a better song. It should have been the anthem. But then again, there’s something fitting about the US choosing a song about battles and explosions over a song that extols the beauty and bounty of the land. The Star Spangled Banner better fits our American hubris and self-importance.
It isn’t streaming yet, it’s been doing the festival circuit and is currently only in limited theatres. I wish this was made clear in the review (it only mentions the recent festivals, not where to find it to watch it).
No Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner from Zacharias Kunuk? No Jesus of Montreal or The Barbarian Invasions from Denys Arcand? Not even a mention of the most glorious Canadian movie of them all from Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis? Buncha hosers!!!
As a straight white male who has been a fan of the Indigo Girls for 30+ years, I find it shame that the focus is on their individual sexuality. Why not focus instead on their charity, their social activism, the way they’ve spoken up for downtrodden minorities, not to mention their amazing songs and harmonies. They are…
If you’re going to consider, for entries, cameos in “Anchorman” and his brief “Apocalypse Now” appearance , it’s incumbent to give one to his *other* “tiny but important and compelling” role for Coppola: Martin Starrett in “The Conversation”, in which he’s Smithers to Robert Duvall’s Burns, devotedly stalking & harassi…

eehhh... lot’s of lines... looks... ehhh... kind of overboard and busy.
No Dances with Wolves for South Dakota? You may not like the film, but the cinematography was lovely.
To be re-released monthly with only minor changes and all the old comments still attached.
How is The Wizard of Oz not the pick for Kansas?!
I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s list of the of 20 best lists on AV this month.
No love for Jake and Elwood? Or Ben & “They’re Coming To Get You” Barbara?
Another runner-up for Arkansas: Mud. Honestly, I would have chosen it over True Grit. Much of True Grit takes place in Indian Territory, which is modern day Oklahoma. Plus, as an Arkansan, I felt like it the most Arkansan movie I’ve seen.
You forgot Indiana Jones and the Kinja Slideshow of Annoyance
I was sure Cara Delevigne’s vagina tunnel and dedicated BDSM room was going to be number one but hey, c’est la vie.
I think 90% of these celebs said they describe their home as “zen.” As a lifelong soto zen buddhist, it really cracks me up that these over the top expressions of wealth and ego are described by a term that means freedom from exactly that :-o
I’m sorry to be the one to tell you, but our grocery store prices will never go down. Virtually no price hikes on consumer goods get reduced over time. Best case scenario is them increasing less than 2-3% every year, unless there is a massive change in the macroeconomics of our nation.
