I don’t really think *this* is a problem... they can put forth whatever they want in their trending sections, just like CNN and FoxNews can put whatever they want in their content.

Which, hey, I wouldn’t have a problem with if Facebook didn’t attempt to hold itself out as a medium in which you could consume a reasonably balanced diet of news. It isn’t even that I would read the articles they expressed, as every time I accidentally go to a conservative news site I usually spend the next day or so…
This is hardly a phenomenon that is specific to just Facebook. The vast majority of media in the United States is left-leaning and they don’t want to give you any opportunities to get news from them that has a conservative viewpoint.
How about if they were fighting to defeat Secretary Clinton?
Maybe you should work for the new lefty-facist machine, yourself. No intelligence needed, just blind obedience.
Ahh the SJW ethos of demanding diversity everywhere BUT in ideas rears its ugly head.
“I am against censorship, but for it.”
I would certainly bet that you wouldn't condone it if Facebook was pushing Trump. You can't have it both ways and while I know it's hard you have to keep your mind open and see things from more points of view than just your own. If you would truly be OK with it if Facebook was pushing Trump then I can respect your…
I despise the right-wing, ascribe exactly zero value to their beliefs and consider the current conservative media paradigm comparable to Goebbels.
I know you’re just a kid trolling for attention, but I will make one point in response. Categorically dismissing ideas as “wrong” (without even lifting a brain cell to say why) isn’t the principled stand you seem to think it is. It’s straight up intellectual laziness. THAT is why Fox News’ ethos can be…
This is that one article to keep you thinking that.
Based on Gawker’s comment section, the news is only being consumed from one site.
True, corporate citizens can espouse whatever they want. But Facebook presented its “trending stories” list as somehow impartial. Apparently they were curating it *without telling anyone*. To me, they were being dishonest. It’s not a violation of journalistic ethics (as you correctly point out), but it IS douchbaggery…
If it’s true, it’s not just the right wing that will be angry. People already feel Facebook is manipulative and unethical; this is just more fuel for the fire.
Kudos to Gizmodo for giving this issue a serious examination. I admit that I would have predicted a Gawker site to participate in the very same hide-newsworthy-conservative-subjects editorializing that apparently Facebook did. Thanks for proving me wrong.
Sucks for the cadets and the snitch’s motivation clearly sucks, but I’m all for ridgid enforcement of a separation between the military and politics.
Yes BLM advocates for the murdering of cops. Completely different.
oh wow! btw before you get all “holier-than-thou” I am black/hispanic. But code is code. period.
no, and you know better. Code of conduct is clear, it is even written above in the article. They broke code. period.
This is making a political statement in uniform. It is NOT ok.
