It’s a massive misnomer to conflate journalists with the owners of media companies that were reaping the profits from those massive margins back in the golden age of journalism, when one outlet had effective monopoly control over advertising and classifieds in a particular market. Outside of a few very high-profile

Uh, the music industry is nothing like that. Big companies control it tightly. Many popular artists are hemmed in by heavily restrictive contracts. Only the very biggest have the power to win favorable contracts. Those companies have been pushing into areas that used to be solely the artist’s, like in-show merch sales

That is a wildly inaccurate view of what’s happened to the music industry, and individual artists are most certainly not “in charge.” While I’m not going to lionize the era of larger record companies — scummy fucks all — the infrastructure surrounding them provided the opportunity to make a living off mid-level sales

Joining the new Gawker should be viewed as the media equivalent of crossing a picket line.

No way is Carson in her 30s. She looks like a RHOOC castoff.

Having never heard of any of these shitty people, I look forward to never having to hear about them again.

Worst. Circlejerk. Ever.

That’s a list of weaponized white mediocrity if I ever saw it.

The geolocation on Jay’s tweet being “Greenwich, CT” is too perfect

that is one hell of a list of endorsements, in that it comes from hell

Why is Chapo being mentioned? It wasn’t even brought up in the article.

You have to admit that it was quite a feat to take the already moronic book of RP1 and somehow manage to dumb it down for the film version.

I mean, Spielberg is a good enough filmmaker that anything he produces will clip along well on a moment-to-moment level. But he’s doing it in service of a juvenile power fantasy with shallow characters and unexamined gross themes.

I wonder how much of it is him growing up rich and how much is natural aversion to intelligence that causes all variables to fall away and everything to become X to Y. How many people just don’t correct him because it’s a waste of time?

Nazis always deserve punching.

Or they just use the whole car to murder you.
