I’ve yet to see a really compelling argument for why they are selfish - is the reason is simply because they had a child at a late age? I don’t see evidence that the child will not be provided for/have a loving home and family. Is it selfish because she bent to the years of abuse heaped on her for their infertility?…
I’m struggling to see how it’s unethical if the child is provided for and has a loving family and stable childhood- even if they miss milestones down the line.
I agree- that this couple felt enough shame at being childless to pursue IVF at this age is definitely batshit.
This completely normal observation about the power dynamic inherent in huge age differences is not popular around these here parts.
