I really enjoyed this movie. Not a lot of drive as far as the story is concerned, but the characters are all great and the performances were fun to watch. Everything develops nicely and comes together at the end in a finale completely lacking in any cynicism, which is refreshing these days. Felt very true to life,

Elsbeth is my favorite reoccurring character. I've never been particularly attracted to that actress, but her character in this show drives me wild.

I'm glad someone mentioned this. It was most notable in the final chase scene through the catacombs. There were some interesting parts, like when Rust walks out into that open pit between two old Civil War era fort walls or something, and camera pans up showing him like a mouse trapped in a maze. But for the most

I agree. The core shift in the shows quality for me was when the two detectives left the department, and the show was no longer operating along three timelines and just focused on the present.

Yeah, bringing down the whole conspiracy would have been even more cliche and predictable IMO. They found and dealt with the killer, but the larger mystery remains open.

I think more than anything a lot of people were drawn to the bleakness of this show. They wanted an ending that doubled down on that. I know I was fully expecting darkness to win out in the end last night, with possibly both protagonists dying and the Yellow King remaining undiscovered.

What episode was that drawing in? I remember Marty paging through a book of crude sex imagery, but it all looked pretty tame as far as I can remember, definitely no rape stuff?

The language he used even called back to earlier in the season when he described his daughter's death to the detectives. That she stepped from one darkness into "another, deeper kind". He said he thought it would be beautiful, and he experienced it for himself in the finale. I loved the first time he used that
