    Yes I’m aware of that, but we’re talking about Oscar nominations. The Academy can’t just hand out nominations to every ethnic minority group just for trying. Asians are also under-represented, if they come out with a few eligible movies, is the Academy forced to nominate an actor out of those few choices? No. I

    The Academy has always been uptight. Even if you’re a successful white actor you need to campaign for months to get a nomination. What everyone here seems to be ignoring is all the of awards POC have received in the past years.

    According to whom? I love how suddenly we’re all experts on what is or is not a good performance. There is a lot of bias involved when you want your preferred celebrities to get recognition.

    I don’t believe it’s racist to simply choose the best performances from the past year. People should be awarded for their talent and hard work, the colour of your skin should not be a reason to receive recognition. If there was an actor of colour that was worthy of a nomination from 2015 I highly doubt the Academy
