no. they’re adults. be better than the children.
no. they’re adults. be better than the children.
Someone a while back had a very great comment about the types of people that support the wall. They want someone to blame for their self-inflicted inadequacies. We can try to reason with them by stating that in 2016, a fucking wall won’t stop someone from crossing the border, and that their jobs won’t be taken away…
If we as a country are going to have a serious and frank discussion about the American immigration policy, then it’s high time that we admit one simple truth:
Also, not agreeing with the echo chamber that Jezebel can occasionally turn into doesn’t make one wrong.
I wonder if these people really want to live in a world where there are metal detectors at the entrances of every movie theater, ice rink, and grocery store in the country. There’s no reason the movie theater should have to pay just because James Holmes doesn’t have any money. They should never have been encouraged to…
At pulse nightclub, the heavily armed shooter walked in the front door, overwhelmed the door security guard who was armed and still killed 50 people. I doubt Cinemark’s front door had someone armed so he could have started shooting employees immediately.
of course not. But it’s more than fair when it’s offered by a party that is in no way at fault for your loss.
They tried giving her 30k when they didn’t have to offer anything. She made a bad decision when most likely still in a bad mental and emotional state. I feel for her, I genuinely do, but the theatre is no more responsible than the company that made that monster’s bad hair dye. I know we all want someone to pay, but…
I think it’s totally unreasonable to expect businesses to provide counterterrorist efforts; just imagine how many more deaths there would be if the folks who failed out of the police academy got hired by movie theaters to maintain security.
I don’t think it’s legitimate to complain that a third party who wasn’t responsible for the tragedy didn’t offer enough money to its victims. I really don’t want to live in a world in which private businesses are required to maintain the degree of security that would be necessary to make an event like this impossible.…
Then they will fucking learn that suing people under “emotions” is a useless process to do, it helps no one and doesn’t in the least to help their emotional issues.
Part of the state law about the loser paying court costs is that all parties have to have been clearly informed of that fact. They went ahead with the suit anyway, knowing that risk. Lots of sympathy for their original ordeal, not so much for failing to try to scrape some money out of an innocent party after the fact.
They tried to pay them off and make it go away even when it was clear they would win. The lady who rejected it ruined it. She couldn’t let it go.
Are they responsible for how they reacted to lawsuits from shell shocked and grieving families? You bet.
They tried to pay them off! The one plaintiff said no. It was a good offer, too.
But the theater tried to settle with them and give them money. These four plaintiffs refused because they . . . wanted more money. For something that clearly wasn’t the theater’s fault.
stop. This doesn’t even make sense. Are you saying that you can just file suit against anyone you want, no matter how frivolous, and not expect to pay damages when you lose?
Won’t bother me or (I’m guessing) the majority of cinema-goers.
They offered then a pretty good settlement considering they were found not liable already and were clearly not at fault. And the plaintiffs didn’t take it.
I dunno, they gave the plaintiffs a pretty good settlement offer considering that they were already found not liable in state court.
