Taxes are not that hard to do yourself. I get credits every year doing my own taxes. You just need some time and the ability to follow directions.

You can file taxes and receive credits you are eligible for no matter what your income.

Tax credits can exceed the taxes you owe so you get more than you paid or owe. So I’m not sure how tax credits do not help you if you have low income.
