well not really. Yes it broke opening weekend box office for that weekend. But if you notice it's dropping fast. It fell to #3 after it's first week losing 64% of its returns and its dropped to #5 this week with an additonal 50% loss.

the problem is that those are done in a cartoon fun way. This is done in an ultrarealistic way.

acctually the first 3 superman movies were a success. The fourth was a bit of a bomb but they did try to make it campier.
