You are correct that they generally keep software prices up, and for good reason, they continue to sell at those prices. The last time they really dropped software was back during the GCN and Wii era with the player’s choice lineup which dropped them down to $20 (with an ugly box as a tradeoff).
Kind of off topic, but how crazy is it that a console lasted seven years on the market without a single price drop? The closest it ever got was bundling in Mario Kart or Smash Brothers.
All your points are good. I would also add that the last two years of inflation coming on the tail end of the pandemic certainly led people to curb spending on non-essentials.
I came here to say this. I have played every GTA, but I rarely get past about 10 to 15 hours. It always feels like they spend the years between releases just focus group testing middle school poop jokes. And I could get over that, but the gameplay is just repetitive and gets old for me.
