A lot of great characters here. Definitely glad to see Maggie from Love and Rockets (one of my all-time favorite comics) make the list. And Dr. Strange should be higher on the list, but I'll take it. :) Grimjack . . . I always liked the concept but felt it was a little too late-period Heinleinish, ifyaknowwhatimean.

Yeah, I thought about that even as I was typing it. But still, I think the black populations in those areas are still somewhat affected by the overall health trends in those cities (at least the first two) and so are not indicative of general trends. And D.C. is technically in the South, although the maps indicate

I think another factor is that rural people, being generally more conservative, are less interested in health "fads." They think it's just more liberal propaganda/conspiracy to control their lives being forced down their throats. I'm serious about that; I live in the Deep South. I'll bet the other conservative

Not dull at all! Thanks for posting.

I agree, and I am usually pretty laid back about this stuff. I think this is the straw that broke the camel's back for me. The price we are paying to feel safe from an almost negligible threat is way too high.

Actually, the scene that really awed me from that film was also the one that horrified me: it's the nuclear explosion dream sequence. We've seen cities destroyed by monstrous disasters many times since then, but that was one of the first times I recall seeing it done well. And of course the fact that it is a

That is utterly Sauronic!

Clive Barker was also asked to direct Alien 3 but that never happened, probably for the best. I still do not acknowledge any of the Alien films after Aliens—what a huge slap in the face to fans Alien 3 was.

Bah, don't hassle Dick75 for his beliefs. He is worlds more enlightened than almost every Christian I've ever met. Of course I live in the rural South, so I am pretty much immersed in the most stubbornly backwards type of believers under the sun. I would take a Dick75 over most of these guys any day of the week.

Did anyone notice that the publication date of Childhood's End was listed as 2009? Hmmm.

I've seen 2012. That shit is accurate! ;-) Nah, it was an exaggeration, to be sure, born out of my frustration with a society that does not appear to be taking global warming seriously enough. I don't claim to fully understand environmental science, but I do think the deniers are wrong.

Damn, I threw in all three issues of The Damn That Came to Gotham when I sold a few Hellboy collections on eBay. Guess I should have checked the value on those. I think I made $30 on the lot.

Meh, wake me when they start making plans to raise the Avanc. No, but seriously, this is pretty cool. Hopefully they perfect this tech pretty quickly, because a couple hundred years from now all the natural landmasses will be underwater.

No, no, no. Luke used the force to augment and extend the existing warmth in the Tauntaun. Case solved. ;-)

Okay, as with the recent Hellraiser remake article, I like the art but it's the same-old same-old. Can we all agree that the black leather costume is way overdone at this point? (It was the G.I. Joe film what done it in, I think.) Can the new black be . . . something else? Love the back tat though.

Absolutely! They're only among my favorite books ever. :)

Oh, and by the way, according to the Wiki page on Pinhead:

I have to agree with Skarlet and some of the other people who replied to the article over at Shock Till You Drop: I just don't think the characters are very inspired, even though they look neat. To me they're just glammed-up versions of the originals, which is not only unnecessary, it's completely derivative. The

http://youtu.be/ Long-time fan of Prince. I still think the best fantasy/sci-fi themed Prince video is the future utopia depicted in the video "7" which also happens to be one of my favorite Prince songs. But, well, there are so many.

Hey, I liked it too. I think it's definitely underrated; the finale alone is Clive Barkeresque and managed to be both frightening and emotionally satisfying. It may have helped that I have never played the video game. Oh, and I was high on painkillers the first time I saw it too. But it really stuck with me.
