That’s the thing though. I think there are almost zero customers walking in wanting an EV and not getting one because of the salesperson. Those people are already sold.

20-80 is such a shitty figure for anybody to quote. Look! We have a 200+mile EV! Here’s how long it takes to charge it to 120 miles range!
Level 1 charging is a lifestyle choice. You’ll have as much success getting people to adopt EVs with level 1 charging as you’ll have getting them to keep off 50lbs of weight loss through diet and exercise.
Suburban/exurban people are the best people to sell EVs to because they can charge at home.
If the customer was banging down the door for an EV this wouldn’t be a conversation.
Details about the product only help you sell things if the one you sell happens to be the best one.
I’m going to leave this one here for posterity so you can be a shining example of how full of shit people like you are.
This is true of almost all vehicles. Only a small set of data is mandated to be over the standard protocol and manufacturers have proprietary extensions on top of that. Some more open than others.
No. The commonly quoted charge times to 80% start from 20%.
Why is it every time there is an EV article there are an army of people lying about charging in the comments? Is the theory that if you trick people then they’ll already have an EV and that’s that?
I know you’re concerned that if people go off message you’ll have a harder time convincing everybody to do what you want. But reality doesn’t give a shit. It’s reality. You will have to find a different strategy.
Literally none of what you said here is true.
Taking the truck and selling it for more than $100k would also be a valid choice. Somehow not even out of the realm of possibility, since $100k for Shelby Raptor is actually in the lower end of the range they’re selling for.
the number doesnt need to be “majority” for it to be considered. even if the number was 25% that’s still important to keep in mind. because we know that the grid isnt going to be able to support everyone and their dog pulling 7kw per at 6pm.
He was probably in one-pedal mode and 50-something years of reflexes freaked out for a second.
I’ve got $20 on the truck being in “one-pedal driving” mode.
Ok then how many miles per day do you think a large part of this country drives?
If all you ever make is an average round trip commute in fair weather, you’re fine.
I daily and roadtrip an EV that isn’t a Tesla. The lack of access to the Tesla supercharger network is a non-issue. At least on the east coast.
If they aren’t on a street all they need to charge at home is a 110V outlet.
