What’s going to happen is that we’re going to have to continue to push back the EV targets because we’re not going to be ready, and in the meantime we’re going to be stuck with a bunch of giant gas guzzlers because all the small ICE cars don’t meet the shittily written regulations.

The company I work for sat on 600 open reqs for two years because we couldn’t compete offering $89k to new grads against companies offering six figures. (And every one of those kids deserved the $100k/year they got)

If I get to an EA station and the 350kw charger is free, but all the 150kw chargers are taken, I’m going to plug in at the 350. Even though my truck maxes out around 150.

If you think it’s hard for a new college grad to find a job, you’re in for a shock when you get older.

If you borrow $100,000 on a 10 year repayment plan, and that $100k up front nets you an extra $36,000 a year in income over that 10 years, you should be able to pay that debt off and still be up $260k by the time you’re in your mid 30s.

There are plenty of profitable private universities with prices lower than that. It simply doesn’t cost $70,000+ a year to educate somebody in a university setting. This is easy to demonstrate, because there are still plenty of schools who keep the lights on with a lot less. Yet there are 500 schools with tuition

The dirty secret about that $60k school is that the price isn’t actually $60k. The price ceiling is $60k. They’ll charge you as much as you can afford (as much as you can afford to borrow!) up to that amount. Which is absurd.

We should pay our teachers enough that they’re seeing the same post-degree salary boost as other professions. Then that isn’t a problem.

$10k/semester isn’t unaffordable. If you graduate in 8 semesters, that’s only $80k in loans. You can pay that off in the difference in salary you make vs not getting a degree in 3 years. Even if you have to finance $160k to get a degree, it’s still affordable and worth it.

The way you make college more affordable is to stop throwing government subsidies at financing.

Debt is fine if you use it for something with a good return on investment. College has a great return on investment - assuming you choose a good major, do your course work, and get a job when you leave.

CAFE has been an ecological disaster. So much pollution and death via the footprint calculation, and it couldn’t be fixed because people were afraid admitting they were wrong would be a political setback.

Car brands have good and bad reputations for a reason.

So I’m blatantly ignorant for suggesting exactly the same thing you’re suggesting using slightly different terminology? And what do Germans have to do with this? Or do you have vehicle country of origin bias?

Better than $60k for a basket case.

People are going to laugh at this idea and the change in what people are allowed to do isn’t going to change what people actually do hardly at all.

A plane flew into a building while I was working inside it. It killed my friends and the parents of another friend. So.

I don’t want to shit on your affiliate links ‘cause I appreciate you guys have to pay the bills. But any work light that doesn’t take standard removable batteries is terrible! Essential feature! When the battery dies or you forget to plug it in, you’re stuck for a long time waiting. If you have one that takes 18650s

I’m doing 20% better than 90% of the people then.

LED technology has come a long way and my bike is now visible from the moon, and I think motorists appreciate that.
