What city? I remember Andrew well, but from Baton Rouge which wasn't hit as bad. I did have to move a large limb out of the road to get to the justice of the peace and make my marriage guv'mint legal. And having married "the day after Hurricane Andrew" makes it easy to remember the date. Or at least the month.

@zehaeva: Yep, this is the problem with this scheme. Of the dozens of sites I have accounts, only two let me use any of the characters at the top of the number keys. All others restrict some of them, usually # and &.

@steve.d.hill: I want to apologize for the tone I took. It was rude. I won't defend pressed-powder tablets. There are superior forms of multivitamins available, like loose-pack capsules.

@steve.d.hill: Somebody always drags this tired old "expensive piss" line out. Tell me, when you excreted the undigested parts of yesterday's lunch, did you consider it expensive poo? When you piss out the remains of your morning coffee, or an evening beer, do you consider that expensive piss too?

Let's say I wanted something like this at home, or at least something to transcribe podcasts. What would I use?

@eliavictor: Autopots are the king of the self-watering pots. They don't wick, but there's a tipping valve in it that gives the plant water, and then no more until it's dry, and waters again, all through smart design, not electricity. It's not a constant-feed pot - the way it works is better because it also manages

@tinyhands: If you have still water in your birdbath, you pretty much have to clean it every day anyway. We put out birdbaths and seed in the winter, and I have to clean the baths every day or the water just gets nasty with dropped food, feathers, droppings, etc.

@kaidenshi: You're right, it does make me look the fool. I missed the kernel and only saw a description of the app launcher/bookmark list.

@cedric1: I stand corrected. Thank you Cedric1. I was under the impression that it did less than it really does.

So all it takes to call yourself an OS these days is to have a custom app launcher?

You can also just put them in a folder on the Links\Personal\Bookmarks toolbar.

@Darren Boudreau: New headline: Google leaps ahead of the pack with exciting new technology proving their technical superiority and world leadership in copying features Opera has had for years.

I was born in the late 60's, and was taught penmanship in school. But as an adult, I found my cursive script as sloppy and impenetrable as anyone's. Last year I decided to do something about it, and practiced 15 minutes or so a day for a couple weeks, writing prose as slowly as needed to make clean, legible text. It

Fantastic roundup. I'd missed a couple of these in the past. Thanks!

Opera has had spellcheck since v7 or so. I guess they're just building in the dictionary now instead of making you download it seprately.
