I get so enraged; I just wrote an email to a tv station who did a short ‘on this day’ on Arthur Ashe. Ashe was a wonderful person and player, but the short doc claimed he was the first African American to win Wimbledon, the US, be number one in the world, and to be inducted into the International tennis hall of fame-

NO JOKES ALLOWED. EVERYTHING IS REAL.

It really seems like it’s a joke at Twitter’s expense, to me. There are a lot of things in the news for people to talk seriously about, right now, and Twitter’s very nature doesn’t make it the greatest platform for anyone to get any of those complicated emotions out. It doesn’t look like he’s seriously frustrated, as

I think he was just poking fun at the 140 character limit on Twitter, which makes difficult to finish a full, deep thought on a serious matter...

I think he might've been joking?

I would guess the odds of these snipers having been trained by our government is high. I’m not usually a conspiracy person but...if you were trying to start a race war, this would be a good start, and it seems mostly racist white people want to start a race war.

right?! Finally some sense! I read the “best three” bit and I was just like

Don’t get me wrong, I totally agree that what the judge did was wrong. But I get the sense she did it out of frustration with this woman who gets the shit beat out of her by a guy and then is trying to help him out by dropping charges rather than coming to court to get his ass in jail. It would piss me off too. And

I gotta agree. Mel C. is far and away the most talented Spice Girl and has even had some success as an actress on the London stage. (Not just musicals, either).

Just keep that in mind when that guy manages to finally kill a woman he’s in a relationship with before you come on here weeping about how the system failed that dead woman...

As a former somewhat surly 10 year year old, I can say with confidence that Posh Spice was a patron saint to girls who were a bit more serious on the outside but also goofy and fun loving on the inside at the time.

Yet you think she should be spending her life dealing with the man who injured her?!

The woman didn’t deserve to be jailed, obviously, but not showing up to testify against the person you reported isn’t going to help other DV victims either and wastes everyone else’s time. I’m sure the police, prosecutors and judges run into that problem a lot.

Wow very rude to Sporty, who legitimately has the best voice of any of them.

She totally had a right to be pissed at this woman for not complying with a court order, but Jesus, three days in jail for a DC witness’s for contempt?!? A stern talking to would be sufficient and a reminder that others were counting on her to show up.

These aren’t two sides to one thing. On one hand, innocent black men were murdered by specific police officers, On the other hand, innocent police officers - who were not the ones who committed the murders - were killed by black people who were not the victims. These are two idiotic wrongs. If anything they are on the

While I largely agree with you, part of the problem is that cops already *do* walk around with a measure of fear of black men. It’s racist and angry and hateful fear, and mostly closeted or couched in ways that make it palatable to the white majority, but still. More fear is just going to mean full out open warfare,

I can’t stop checking for updates on this story. It’s utterly insane. It feels like this country is losing its collective mind. And the worst part is, it only feels like things are going to get even crazier. I have a sick feeling that this madness will continue for a long time. I hope I'm wrong.

This is what happens when the US government and its local police forces execute innocent black folks in the streets as standard procedure. There is nothing good or just about last night’s shooting. There is nothing politically useful about it. This is a tragedy.
