This is all pretty standard conventional wisdom. What’s less established, and what might be more helpful, would be a better look at total training volume. So I’m doing sets of 5, how many? There’s a wide variation across programs and it’d be interesting to review that literature.

It’s true that it’s easier to assess your neighborhood than a particular stock, but easier than both is just throwing money into an index fund. Real estate is a good call, especially if you enjoy the process of fixing up and caring for houses. The economic case against that is diversification against risk. The biggest

What makes you say that?

Well sure, there’s no debate for the Independent nomination so there’d be nothing to write about.

Sure it’s not a victory over racism, but it’s literally impossible to do any one thing that has that result. Making sure the people in charge care and make it a priority to have a non-racist campus is an important prerequisite to getting practical measures in place.

You didn’t explicitly mention it here, but I feel like this a big part of the financial math comes from ad blockers eating into projected revenue. I just disabled mine. Forgot what Deadspin looked like with ads. Hope you guys can fill some of the gap for great writing that Grantland’s leaving behind.

Editors and non-contract writers are losing their jobs. Grantland paid well and was the premier stop for writers looking to publish longform sports-related pieces. Hopefully other outlets step up, but until that happens a bunch of folks are SOL.

Ok I see the issue. You thought this was a thread about being an asshole neighbor. It’s about taking revenge on asshole neighbors. Easy misunderstanding.

Why was his lack of mowing your problem?

I’d strongly suggest if you’ll be seeing much rain or any snow. The soles just can’t hold up to much abuse and the water weakens the sole. A thin layer of rubber that’s invisible from above is all it takes for them to handle the full scope of urban conditions.

Longevity; they barely handled a week of snow before giving out.

Per above, I do, but the goal is to have a sole tough enough that it doesn’t get a big hole. Resole when it starts wearing down, not when you get a complete failure of the sole 3 months in.

Nope, go for it. My 1k’s didn’t last a winter before getting a hole, but even that was an easy fix from the cobbler in my neighborhood. Total cost was under $50 and without the hole I think it should be around $30. Definitely want to beat the snow (if that matters where you live).

Just remember that if you plan on wearing nice boots with leather soles (like the Wolverines), then you’ll need to have a rubber sole put on. I’ve made the mistake before of assuming the leather soles were tough enough on their own. Never again.

And come on, that 9th shoe is just a waste. I wear all of mine in pairs. Much easier than mixing and matching. It’s my favorite minimalist lifehack. You’re welcome.

Agreed. I keep mine at my feet unless there’s a surplus of room. I also have no problem pushing people’s bags when they fail to do so.

Agreed, and I use my backpack most days. But a backpack with a suit is the exception. It looks ridiculous. Messes up the lines and looks unprofessional.

I knew something was off, just assumed that the season was further out than I thought.

I guess I was too subtle. I’m not the first person to invent that turn of phrase and this is not the first time anyone has ever seen the federal budget. It’s not anything new.
