I was more of a Murphy’s Law kind of guy personally. I liked the idea of humor in punk as opposed to the more moralizing sort of thing.

CURSE YOU PAUL RUDD!

Aw, no Futurama or The Wire references?

Go on...

I have to revisit the Minor Threat self titled album. From the moment I first saw that iconic picture on the front I was in love. I never really delved much into their discography, but that album in the mid 80's suburbia felt iconic.

Agreed. I didn’t know too many of them, but the few I did were genuinely good fucking guys and great skaters. As someone who was never good on a board, I was pretty envious.

How come? You don’t like the genre? Or you think he’s mined enough out of it?

Symbolism. And Exodus 8:2. Now enough pop culture talk, get back to shaming us!

Are you done crying yet, Chief? Now go code me something already.

As an angry white boy from the suburbs, I resent that remark. I never felt the need to exclude anyone personally...but sadly I get your point.

I wish they’d made him an Italian Spaghetti Western star instead...he could be Terence Hill and they could cast someone as Bud Spencer.

We might have been! Did you go to CBGB for the Sunday shows, or head out to the Island for L’Amour or Sundance shows?

I’m dreading this, but what was he accused of? Seriously, I had no idea.

What got me out of going to shows was how dancing changed. I remember when I started going to shows (around 87) there was still the circle going and pogoing. But by 1999 it just seemed like people trying to punch each other: and it felt like the people themselves changed.

Maybe even 40: didn’t the English punk scene have the National Front assholes as well? I remember in Rude Boy where the Clash are playing an anti-racism festival.

The problem is they’re like cockroaches: even if you spray them with Black Flag they seem to rise above our derision and scream about the White Minority.

Valid point: there was that straight-edge skin movement as well, but I don’t remember them being as big of dicks as the Nazis.

“Not that it matters” - why do I bet that it matters quite a bit to you, Chief?

Really? I went to a lot in the late 80's and early 90's and there was definitely a contingent, at least in NY.
