Gender normalcy, and the concept of what women and men are "supposed" to be is the whole problem. She has her head buried in the past about the subject, and I'd be willing to take bets that she probably doesn't think much of transgender people based on how much she has dug her heels in on this subject.

The closing montage of the Wire finale was great, but nearly all of season 5 was such a gigantic train wreck that there wasn’t a good way to resolve things. There wasn’t even “A” way to resolve some things, like the ludicrous McNulty plot of season 5. Easily the worst season, and not a great finale.
Or...perhaps a bypass?
