From what I read, the card wouldn’t even go through for the money the man owed for just the meal, it was a fake card, or it was overdrawn. The restaraunt owner ended up paying for the meal and paying the “tip” out of pocket to the worker.

And honestly since the guy has not bothered to like call his credit card company and approve the charge and won’t come back to pay it a different way, it seems perfectly likely it *was* a stolen card or he gave her such a large tip because he *knew* the charge would flagged and he wouldn’t have to pay.

You are ASSUMING - and very stupidly so, which seems on brand - that the reason she DOESN’T splurge on toys for her kids is because she’s bad with money. It is entirely possible that the reason she’s not a splurger is that she actually saves and has a budget.
