i’ll admit they may not be considered a one-hit wonder but it’s one of those things where if you follow the band enough to be able to answer this question, you start to lose track of what was broadly considered a hit. like aren’t grateful dead technically a one-hit wonder? that question would make all of my relatives…

i actually really like how the ting tings so far have seemingly switched genres with each album. the album with wrong club had a lot of disco-y/new-wave style songs, the album before that had some songs that sounded a little punky (in the manner of like...early 2000s airwalk punk, anyway).

i think a similar thing happened to the wallflowers, another band i think has really great songs outside of the ones people know. but i think there’s just enough of an argument that they’re maybe a two-hit wonder that i didn’t include them.

fountains of wayne’s “acela” or “sink to the bottom” are my favorites.
