fine then, the united states has three notable victories against teams in the world cup finals since 1950. they still don’t deserve to constantly be considered enough of a threat to be in a group of death. in my life i can’t remember them doing better than one win in the group stage.

you’re not wrong that the US is usually in the group of death by default but they’ve never actually beaten anyone of note in the world cup since 1950 except, i guess, colombia in 94 and mexico in 2002, so i’m not sure why that’s the case.
