*Nods soberly* So what you're saying is… Sub-atomic particles are basically Pokemon.

I kind of go back and forth on him myself, but upvoted for the great, impassioned defense. And I totally agree that he goes against the Arcade Fire/Vampire Weekend "Big Indie" grain, and that that is a good thing.

Plus Craig James still has his jerk-ass charisma, while Bosworth (and many of the other figures portrayed on the series, remember the one about the U?) seems more broken.

Onibaba is really fantastic. Like a fairy tale in the best possible way.

That is a good mix. I am a huge, huge fan of Manhunter. Your "to see" list contains some real classics as well. I'm not sure where you live but both "The Thing" and "The Shining" are particularly good watches when you're snowed in (have done this with different sets of friends for both movies and it's a blast).

Oh man, yes to both of these. The 70's San Francisco vibe totally works for the movie. Dated in a very good way.

I will only read the generic/terrible entertainment stories like this IF they are written by O'Neal.

"It" being that whenever I see/hear something ending in "My friend!" I always imagine Mitt Romney's voice.

This is probably even more disturbing than the topic at hand, but I just want to say that I heard that in Mitt Romney's voice in my head. And I just about lost it at work.

So from the comments so far it seems like eye-popping, colorful visuals were part of the appeal of the comic.

Hawkwind at least gets first crack at any 70's science fiction.

I don't expect this to be anywhere near the experience of "The Room", but the man farting/orgasming/exploding in the lower right gives me some hope.

And where'd that Jaws guy come from? And why does he hate fictional Martha's Vineyard so much?

Nope, it's Salinger. He's alive now.

Well, wanting to live always in the past is a healthy attitude.

Honestly, one of my very earliest childhood memories was that the video rental section of our local market(!) had a life-sized cardboard cutout of Freddy Krueger. Legitimately, legitimately scared me as a 5 year-old. Would not go near that section of the store.

I will also - reservedly - come to the defense of System of a Down. They also had some humor, otherwise mostly absent from those of the Nu Metal persuasion.

The most recent sub-heading in Chris Kattan's Wikipedia page is, "2014-present: Legal Troubles and Mango Revival."

That's true now, but prior to its current focus as the Bearded Alien Pawnshop Channel (Buy Gold) the History Channel was where you would go for your Hitler-watchin' needs.

The entire story was a hallucination brought about by a secret, combat-enhancing drug test conducted in Vietnam. Jon has been dying from a bayonet wound the entire time…
