This makes me think of Paul Hogan’s Subaru Outback commercials, and how, when I bought a WRX in the early 2000s, I had to educated more than one friend on it being a Japanese car and not Australian.

I recently made some for a Halloween decoration and went with clear Elmer’s glue and food coloring (mostly red but a little green to yuck it up). It turned out really good!

I bought a ‘19 used last year, and definitely have lived the “is that a Buick” meme on more than one occasion. I really enjoy the car and the random looks and comments it gets. That said, I wish I had just bought one new near the end of their run when they were incentivizing the hell out of them.

I was going to say, how in the world did the SRT-4 make this list and not the STi!? I’m really not the biggest wing fan in general, but the Subaru’s wing is iconic. (The NSX is a good, if understated, choice too).

I want to say the Buick TourX, but the fact that they hardly sold any means they probably did the right thing.

Keyless entry in general is great. I love being able to leave my keys in my pocket to unlock and start my car. It’s unnecessary, (and I’m not saying you have to like it) but to deny that it adds a convenience factor is willfully ignorant. That said, I still like that I have a mechanical backup (i.e. a physical key

I dare say that it’s actually a handsome little CUV.

I would think on older person would be happier with a compact CUV. Easier to get in and out of and a little more ride height to better see the road, but also still a relatively small car. Something like a Rav4 or CR-V would fit the bill nicely.

Yup, exotic/supercar was where me head was at too. I got to take an MC20 for a few laps around COTA, and it was such a fun experience. That said, I wish everyone could get at least one autocross or track driving experience (in any vehicle). I don’t think the majority of people on the road realize the limits even

Personally, I think the early 6th gens were still the sweet spot.

I was in one of the younger, more hip/hipstery areas of my city this past weekend and noticed a ton of these on the roads. Granted I was a little more tuned into them because a friend I was meeting also drives one, but I kind of gave up looking out for them after my 8th “is that them?” moment in a few minute span.

I know I’ve eaten white pepper in plenty of dishes where I haven’t thought anything of it. But in too large of quantities, I get this exact same thing.  I remember one time my office had a chili cook-off, and I was legit concerned that one pot had been cooked by a disgruntled employee that put poop in their chili.

I can’t help but feel like the comment you’re responding to was tongue-in-cheek, but who knows these days.

I get targeted car related adds on social media, and recently got something from Motortrend about an EV crate motor “to replace your V8". The comment section felt like the car version of Charlton Heston’s NRA speech.

Definitely don’t think you’re a weirdo.  If I didn’t have kids I’d still be city/condo living too.

I never knew what any of these were called, but the “charge” is the only one I ever really felt like I got down. The finger pass is probably the one I’ve messed with the most (mostly mindlessly), but I’ve never been able to do it very smoothly.

Buick Regal TourX: Wanted something with a warranty that could haul my family comfortably, and didn’t really want a CUV or SUV (my wife already has that covered). Would have loved the PHEV Volvo V60 or Merc E-Wagon (or of course the RS6 Avant), but too spendy. Also, I’ve never owned a wagon (or even hatchback), so I

I agree the general premise of r/tvtoohigh, but only really for living room or media room type setups where you will be sitting on a couch/chair while watching TV. My major issue with that subreddit (and so many others), is that they take their advice too far. Any setup that’s not eye level, regardless of the context,

I mean, I think all of the things you list are things the Jalopnik wagon lovers crew would prefer not to have on their vehicles, but the options are so limited that some concessions need to be made.

Well under your budget (although maybe not flashy/luxurious enough), but I’m a big guy and love my TourX. With $50k you could easily declad it, give it the Opel or Vauxhall treatment (which would draw even more “what kind of car is that” attention), and get some nicer wheels to flash it up a bit.
