There are a lot of couples who use surrogates and while the woman isn’t going through the difficulties of pregnancy, the parents still have so much to celebrate with a new baby on the way. It just seems needlessly harsh to crap on that celebration.

These “Jen is pregnant” headlines usually make me sad but this one actually made me laugh. It’s too ridiculous. Don’t tabloids realize that if Jennifer Anniston wanted a baby then Jennifer Anniston could have had a baby? There’s a whole Jennifer Lopez movie about this.

The In Touch cover got me wondering what year we’re in. Did we make it back to 2005? Is this our chance to stop Trump?

Just to add to this article that the LAUSD allows charter schools to use LAUSD buildings without charging them for the use, thus further wasting resources that should be put to use for all Los Angeles students.

I have never crossed a picket line and I never will.

There was a LOT of talk amongst teachers in our union group page about taking sick days as winter break came to a close, to help out subs. I took a sick day on Wednesday last week although my sub said she had worked already that week, which was mildly unfortunate since I did want to get someone who hadn’t worked at

Education makes dreams come true:

One big difference between a charter school and a ‘regular’ public school is that the ‘regular’ school MUST accept all students that walk in the door. To get into a charter school in most districts you have to apply. Right there you have a self-selected group of students whose parents are involved enough (or are able

I’m reading some of these subs talk about how much they sub...I work for LAUSD as a sub. I get a phone call MAYBE once every 2 months to sub from LAUSD’s automated system. Instead of putting the jobs into an online system, the phone calls start at 5AM (if they come at all) and unless you know a teacher to book you

No, it isn’t.

Solidarity with striking teachers!

If you are a working person and look at history, you know that the only power economically and morally you have are strong and ethical unions (not all are)

Thank you for saying this. I have a friend in LAUSD who is striking who is constantly going above and beyond for his students, doing lots of voluntary after-school stuff and on the weekends, and even occasionally attends some students’ family and extracurricular events. I once asked him why he did all the extra work

Solidarity is strength! Still much work to be done, but victory is inevitable if we believe in each other!

I believe it was inferred that the raise was only temporary, an enticement to cross the picket line.

Oh Colonel. You need to do some research.

Teachers in Scotland are potentially gearing up for strike action too, after they have been badly treated for years. Resources down, no wage increases in years (and so earning less in real terms, etc). There was a huge march not that long ago in Glasgow:

I agree but if you look at who will be running in your local races this spring, you will learn that probably half of the incumbent Dems running are involved in charter schools in some way. Either they work for them directly or they have friends/family who work for them.
