They also had rebuild depots all over Asia and Europe to mix&match beat up jeeps and literaly keep them rolling. Once the war ended, didn’t really need them. The French dumped a lot of their stock in djibouti when they were done with them too, in the 1960s. (Some being Hotchkiss M201s but others being old wartime jeep

Urban legend. The military sold some of their stocks to Norwegian, greek and french armies before the more beat-up were sold to civilians here. The CJ line of jeep was sold in the states prior to the military version being available most likely.

It is a Ford, not a Willys. But most people wouldn’t search for a Ford GPW.

Just had a look at the CL ad. Yeah about 10k too expensive.

Repro tub , incorrect transmission, missing horn & fuel strainer, incorrect radiator, incorrect paint under the hood on... everything, incorrect front bumper, incorrect seat cushions, shouldn’t have the blackout lamp on the fender on a ‘42.

Lots of incorrect stuff on it, and it looks like a repro tub. ‘bout 5-7k too expensive.

Could’ve lost the needed one.

The castle nut on the T-84 tranny is 1" and torqued to over 100lbs/ft iirc, so if you don’t have that one nor an adjustable wrench, you’re SOL

We call it the same in french. I think its more a case of a mistake than messing up your order on purpose. But eh, ya never know.

Nordman are the older thread pattern with the newer compound for the budget-minded.

I run the Nordman 5s and have no trouble in Canada-level snow. I love ‘em actually.

On my jeep, the engine is the last thing I do. Rather than have a rebuilt engine sit for years around the shop, I prefer having it all machined up/magnafluxed at the end and rock that shop warranty for a bit and drive that jeep right away.

Haha I don’t miss working outside. That was last year, found it on my resto thread

And this is how I work on the restoration for the first 2-3 years. Quite fun uring -30, -40C winters.

Yessir!

At least now its all the same color, or most of it

Heated and with a fridge full of beer upstairs!

Heh had a fun one about a year ago.

Let me start with the facts. I’m not a mechanic. I like to pretend to know how to wrench.

So with winter approching, I decided on a Sunday while at the lake house that it’d be a good idea to raise the coilovers a bit and while the wheels are off, would be a good idea to do some brake

I thought he was saying “Marquis” which is pronounced Mar-kee

Any streaming options that could be available in Canada? We don’t have Fusion :(

Don’t mind paying

And one other neat show we won’t be able to see in Canada :(

We must not be looking at the same ads as I see a lot of 135i going for 13-15k only and with not much mileage on them. Half of them had serious reliability issues with the twin turbos. I wouldn’t invest in them imo. And holy necro haha

Amazing article David, that’s awesome! Give a long distance hug to your Grandpa for us!

Great post David!

I think they just shipped it this way to save on costs and make them faster. Lots of parts on the jeeps had 1930s technology behind them.

Otherwise, all jeeps would probably have benefitted from the 4ws steering system!
