Another for the “bizarrely angry Discovery review” pile. This one is better at seeming like it’s not a “waaaaah this doesn’t make me feel like TNG made me feel when I was 9" screed than the ones on Reddit, but that’s all this is.

Funny, I don’t remember you!

I died at the switchblade moment. Those two actors need Emmys on the way they react alone.

I wish we could kill kids in our television shows; kids in peril is almost universally a TV non-starter for me, it’s just meaningless plot-filler because no one has the balls to take it to its logical conclusion. Children, beings who are evolutionarily almost completely incapable of caring for themselves or dealing

but I hope it doesn’t end up having too regressive gender dynamics.

Sashay away, troll.

The mini-challenge was actually referencing this series of ads:

I don’t think there’s any maybe about Chris being a moron.

They just don’t make em like they used to?

Definitely the best of the season and far better than last weeks garbage. I’d give this episode an A- and last week a D+. I usually agree with AV Club but with SNL I feel like we must not be watching the same show. It seems opposite.

I like Kate McKinnon, and I don’t need impressions to be right on the money, but when they have her doing so many different political impressions they all feel the same to me - her vocal inflections, pauses, everything. The DeVos one reminded me of Hillary. They should either drop the political aspect (my advice) or

All music videos are commercials. Commercials can be well-made.

I’m rewatching S3 of Drag Race. The show has definitely become more “entertaining” (read that as more easily digestible and palatable to a wider audience), but it’s also lost the arts and craftiness part of drag. RPDR went from being a competition to just a vehicle for future WoW YouTube shows. Queens went from

I’m still not on the Kennedy train (just as I was never on the Roxxxy train) and I will err on the side of niceness and assume that Bendela really just wanted to prove something to herself rather than win the crown.

You seriously expect a modern scifi show to use the same visual style as the fucking groovy 60s? Good lord.

I think it looks pretty good. And no, I don’t care that they changed it.

Why wouldn’t it be the prime Enterprise? Because it didn’t look like a cheap 1960's prop?

I got such a kick out of the Enterprise showing up at the end (and it looked fantastic), so of course the AVC review hates it.

I miss Vanessa.
