Exceptional Journalism, written with the empathy and truthfulness it deserves. It’s something I’ve seen first hand, not the suicidal tendency but more so the outlook and viewpoint of a child upon society. My nephew, who is only 9, has such a bleak and pessimistic view of our world. They DO pay attention and understand

Thank you for this. More awareness needs to be brought to how we address mental health issues in our community along with being more comfortable talking to therapists and taking medication if necessary. There’s also something to be said about seeing a therapist that’s culturally sensitive and understanding with issues

You may also be a cat or a vampire. Either way, watch your garlic intake for a few days to be safe.

You’ll love this one (my absolute favorite cover of Mask Off):

I’m so there day 1:

The Black Panther movie, and all of it trailers/posters/interviews and everything have been one of the few bright spots in the dreary shitstorm that 2017 has been. It actually gave me a reason to look forward to something in 2018, shallow as it may sound. I can’t wait to see this. I will buy my tickets the minute they

My non-avatar cat is stoked and awaiting additional internetal details.

Twenty-one years ago I had my first major depressive episode. It was in late October, and it started a cycle that I’ve only recently managed to break away from. Every year whenever October would roll around I would start to feel like everything was closing in on me. My world would suddenly become very small. It’s

I’m torn by this. I agree with you that it’s all too pleasant and clean to be taken seriously, but I disagree that the vision hamstrung or limited later science fiction. I think the most important thing those stories did was imagine a future where people had evolved beyond the failings that seem, from a 21st century

Last winter I survived what may have been my longest, worst depressive episode since I was a teenager. I put my survival plan in action a few weeks ago, hoping to be ready for the shitshow that is the time change: light therapy, med check, vitamin D, increased exercise outdoors (thanks to the dog I adopted in June),

He, like everyone else who was dismissed, will receive a $17.20 check in the mail for his trouble.

I don’t think there is a way. If someone wants to believe something, they’ll latch onto any little thing as evidence that proves them correct.

...and look at how much money we’ve saved by switching to Geico!

My response wasn’t to you. So, there’s that. For quick reference, see the opening comment that started this whole sequence.

So your argument is:

No one has said that she and she alone was the white savior, that is nothing but a straw man meant to distract from the glee you have at an apparent human rights abuse.

The thing is, she might know that too, and probably does. Unlike you, or me, or probably just about anyone on this thread, she lives in the country and works with its people.

Wait a minute now. I think it’s pretty normal that American media attention would be drawn to a case of an American person being arrested in a foreign country for criticizing that country’s rulers. Her whiteness might enhance the degree of that attention, but it seems wrong to be outraged — when was the last time you

As a Venezuelan whose own country is being run into the ground by a madman, you need to ask yourself why you are defending authoritarian rule. I don’t support Maduro just because he is Venezuelan and thumbs his nose at the US, that would be idiotic. I am against him because of his human rights record, corruption, and

Nope, there’s never an “appropriate” time to talk about gun control. The hold the NRA has on the GOP is something I’ll never understand.
