Good points. I actually take less issue with Lebron’s statement than the article, honestly. Although I think the analogy would work better if we were talking about kids who feel they have little prospects for the future who are being groomed to be athletes or people from other countries that came from poverty who are

That’s lazy, calling someone a troll just because they don’t validate your point of view. I actually took quite a bit a time explaining my point of view on this issue. Care to contribute more than just name-calling?

I still find this hyperbolic. Which, in my opinion, is a shame because there are conversations that need to happen. Rhetoric and hyperbole are “preaching to the choir” tactics that rarely improve things. (See talk radio and trump for examples of how it tends to make things a lot worse.)

I’m a basketball fan who pays little attention to football and I certainly know nothing about their contracts but it’s still a hard road to convince people to see grown men being taken advantage of as though they have no options. There are so many desperate people who are fighting everyday just to make it to the next

That’s not feigned ignorance, I just don’t do narratives and it seems a bit demeaning to assume someone’s intelligence based upon the formal education they may or may not have had.

That’s what a troll looks like. We will have to just settle for disagreeing on what we define as slavery.

I hear you. I just think we need to be careful that the word doesn’t start to be used anytime someone is treated unfairly. While there are things in society (antiquated and unjust prison sentences) that could be used in comparison to slavery, I just don’t think athletes who can speak out and are free to go elsewhere

1. That would be taking advantage of someone and being unscrupulous. I have no idea what the education level is of most football players.

Were people sleeping in history class? Slaves were not paid tons of money and then let go if they didn’t comply. What an insulting analogy that waters down the horrible truth of what slavery really is and the powerlessness of those affected.

Rest In Peace Mr. DeFour. If you know any veterans ask them if they would be willing to tell you about some of their experiences. I know someone who had won a Medal of Honor for bravery and no one knew because he never told anyone until a few months before he died when someone asked him about his military experience.

No way. That was a total breach of etiquette by Ms. Winfrey - she embarrassed her guest on national tv. Everyone should know how to fake a positive reaction to tasting food they do not like. You don’t have to finish eating it, or have seconds, or ever eat it again. But if someone gives you the gift of food you should

“It’s so interesting how people are so interested in y’all’s friendship. I mean that hug was, like, the hug that went around the world,” Bush Hager said. “Why do you think people are so hungry for that, though?” she asked Obama.

Yeah, that does seem to happen a lot. When I lost my father it felt like a kick in the gut so I can’t imagine dealing with that twice in a short amount of time. Sounds like they’re a really close family though so that does help.

Bless them. It would be rough to lose two family members in one year. I wish them the strength to deal with this loss.

I have some relatives that teach (or used to teach until they needed a job that made more money) and I used to feel bad at the low pay but felt the summers and holidays off thing would make up for low pay. Then I found out most teachers have to spend the summer doing workshops and/or taking a job to make ends meet.

This makes me so sad. I generally try to not jump to any conclusions but the videos sound like two 14 year old boys playing police officer. Was it bad training, bad decisions, bad officers? Based on this video, this young man never had a chance with the two men that came after him.

But it was filmed in LA!! lol. I don’t know. I can temper my expectations a bit but this may be a road too far for me.

When I first read your comment I thought you said “want her to be pretty just one damn time” and I was like, do you need glasses!! She’s gorgeous all the time! What’s wrong with you?!

Aw. I love that video. I dropped Amazon since they are streaming NRAtv and was thinking about going back to Netflix. This may help make that decision easier!

I’m happy for you that it was a healing experience. And I’m glad you’ve reached a point where you don’t care what other people are thinking. That is a very powerful feeling.
