As for the luxury/sporty dichotomy, these drove very much like a 5 series or E-class of the era, but with a Honda ownership and upkeep experience.

I owned a 2nd gen Legend coupe with the type II V6 and an automatic for a year or two around 2011ish. I was the third owner, and the car came with complete documentation and maintenance records dating to the original window sticker. I bought it at around 150k and sold it at 165k. It was a fantastic car. It made

In addition to working around the highly variable axle loading on the rear of such vehicles, there was also the issues of 4X4 models. Even on vehicles of that time that did have ABS (2 or 4 wheel), many of them disabled ABS when a 4x4 mode was engaged. ABS control requires a different strategy when a center

Beyond the issues other folks have mentioned, dirt out in many desert areas tends to form a harder crust (over time, very slowly) on the surface that substantially reduces erosion. Driving over un-tracked ground breaks up the crust, and beyond just the initial damage done, leaves the ground much more susceptible to

This is a good take. The difference between being the kid who was quick but sawing at the wheel with heroics and the kid who got a national tour win was learning the mental part of slowing down (and slowing down my inputs) and placing the car exactly where I wanted, when I wanted to at the right speed.

I get that. My take is that racing is chocked full of spec series at every level. That’s a very good thing for a whole bunch of reasons, and as a SCCA club racer myself a “spec” class of some form is the only future class move I’ll make unless I magically come into a large pile of money that I want to make small.

I see this as probably only a good thing. I also hope he’ll finally move Indycar away from the largely spec series that it is now and let teams compete on hardware beyond the engine.

I’d argue they already do in the form of the GTM, aside from more modern aero and bodywork.

I don’t think anything won in this situation. There are only varying degrees of losing here.

This. My preferred method of turning money into noise is SCCA club racing, but it is similarly expensive. What I think many aspiring racers don’t fully understand is that a racecar is a completely disposable tool that will get used up, and procuring that tool is the cheap part of racing. You have to be financially

Yes. My 2017 F-150 has a metal whip antenna.

So Toyota basically wants to make a modern version of the 1st generation Mazda MPV, which could be equipped with part-time 4WD system with a locking center differential and a 4 corner load leveling suspension that would raise ground clearance in 4WD.

Think French. FIBA was originally the Fédération Internationale de Basketball Amateur. I don’t think they use the amateur in the name anymore, but they kept the acronym.

You get the new one every day of the week. That probably is the best 1984 F-150 in existence, but it is still a 1984 F-150. I owned that era of F-150 is almost that exact same configuration, albeit with 100K on it at the time and in very good condition. These weren’t great to drive when they were new. That experience

Asking the important questions!

1st gear:  As they say in the South, bless his heart.

Full coverage on old vehicles is often a pretty negligible premium difference. The expensive coverage is usually liability, and uninsured motorist coverage in states with large numbers of them. Comprehensive and collision premiums are usually pretty reasonable unless you’ve got a significant history of chargeable

Situations like this also remind me of why I intentionally chose to play in a different run group than the SM guys.

I guess I could kind of see that. I remember my take being something along the lines of not being sure why the tow truck driver went for the line... yet also taking a dim view of a pack of miata drivers going at it hard enough under a local yellow to be getting loose under braking on the way into the turn and fast

I remember seeing the footage.  I’ll have to look up what the final outcome of that incident was.
