How many more billions before Volkswagen runs out of billions to give?

Admittedly, an engine isn’t the worst thing we’ve had inadvertantly fall off of a bomber. There was that time the Air Force bombed Albuquerque in 1957 when a MK 17 hydrogen bomb was accidently released from a B36 that was landing at Kirtland Air Force Base.

Just make sure that 20lbs bag of Gummie Bears is not of the sugar-free variety, lest you will also need Alexa to dictate your demise into an Amazon review from the sordid remains of your car and your dignity so that your loved ones may know what felled you.

Actually, corvettes have been getting high 20's since the later incarnations of the C4. My 93 LT1/6 speed daily driver gets 27mpg on the highway with the cruise control set at a not unreasonable 82mph.

COTD, or is that not a thing any more?

I owned a 93 MX-6 (V6, 5 speed car) for many years. They were very good cars, and the KLDE was a sweet little V6.

I’ll see your Leopard and raise you one of these, which is still driving around Southern NM with a subsequent owner:

Corvette owner here. The answer to you question is price and usage. Around me, a good, low mileage C5 is around 15k, while a good Z06 is in the 20-25k price range. If you want a track toy, the Z06 is clearly the way to go. For driving on the street, a Z06 is a more expensive, less comfortable machine that is not

Think of it as a first date, albeit in a relationship that has some baggage. You stick to what know well and then do it the very best that you can. It usually isn’t fresh, but if you do it well, it will lead to bigger and better things down the road. Nobody jumps out of airplanes together on the first date.

This is about what I was expecting from the first episode, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching them do their thing. It makes sense to start off doing what you know and making sure you bring folks back into the fold. I strongly suspect that the shenanigans will increase, and that we’ll see some new stuff soon.

Somewhere back in the hangar was a guy saying “shit, I just washed it.”

Agreeded. There is a stigma and resistance to bankruptcy that I don’t fully understand. Sure, nobody wants to need to declare bankruptcy, and the process isn’t fun, but in and of itself, all one is doing is hitting the reset button on their finances. The whole process is designed to allow the debtor to get a fresh

Indeed. 20K is enough money to fight over. 5k usually isn’t, unless feelings are involved.

Thinking about it further, I don’t see a scenario where purposefully defaulting on a car/turning in the keys to the bank really works. If the balance on the loan was low enough for the wholesale auction of the car to cover the loan balance after everything gets tacked onto the principle, the owner would’ve been able

*Returns from Vegas, is greeted at the gate by investigators with an arrest warrant for insurance fraud.

Indeed. If paying it down/getting a second job/making payments for 5 years until he’s not underwater anymore is not an option, bankruptcy is the least bad option he has left. Any other alternatives risk becoming a felon and/or winding up with a destroyed vehicle, a denied insurance claim and a non-dischargable debt

Willingly defaulting on the loan is probably the second worst option this guy could take (second only to committing insurance fraud and getting caught),as the credit hit will be just the start of his problems. He will still be responsible for any deficiency on the loan balance after the default works itself out.

What class would that be? They’re all hot hatches/small, light FWD sporty coupes.  I guess I did forget to put the Si and Preludes on the list, also. I suppose we could add in the DOHC cam Neon’s and Escort GT’s if we want to complete the class, but those were pretty dreadful cars.

I stand by my comment. I remember the Sentra of the 90's, and I even drove some as rental cars, or that were owned by friends. They made my old Integras seem like they were fine German machines by comparison. I remember the SER to be pretty inferior to the hotter Celicas, GSR, MX6, GTI and even Diamond Star cars of

I’m all for Nissan offering it if folks want to buy it, I just don’t understand the personal decision that would lead someone to buy a new version of a crappy, old car. It seems like you take the depreciation hit, and you don’t even have something good to show for it.  Why not buy a five-year old version of a good
