You really think metro is a sad excuse? I haven't lived in other major cities but I took wmata exclusively for 18mos here and didn't have many complaints. Trains are bigger than London Underground, cleaner than NYC subway, but like I said, I've never had to rely on another city's system.

Beltway thing was a non-issue, not surprisingly. The had the news van following 2 trucks without a load. Very anti-climactic. I think there was a brief minute where a few trucks slowed to 15mph, but they were warned by state police.
