It’s weird, because I was convinced that “it’s the same game every year with tweaks” was just something to take for granted with sports games. Except you can look at the Forza games and see that there is a model to release a game based on existing concepts every year while still keeping it fresh.

People keep buying it because 2K has a monopoly on basketball games right now. If you want to play digital hoops, it’s this or nothing at all. When the largest percentage of your audience are people who play sports games pretty much exclusively, that monopoly means those players have to be willing to play nothing and

You’re just jealous of Jake. From State Farm.

Should have gone with that to get a record for shortest game review, from Wikipedia here is a note about the shortest movie review:

The fact that the ad shilling has gotten worse despite the inclusion of advertising prior to 2k22 is a large tell, not to mention god knows how much the NBA 2k series makes. It baffles me that they would have brands that either 2k pay to include or the brands pay for. Which one is which, I really cannot tell anymore.

my first draft was going to be just posting this under a headline

I think you guys are harping way too much on Ben Platt’s age. It’s common practice to cast adults to play teenagers, mostly due to child labor laws during filming. Watching the trailer, really no one other than Evan’s dorky friend and Zoe look remotely age-appropriate. I’ve mentioned it before, but there’s a clip in

It's one of my biggest pandemic pet peeves. It's crazy how little people understand about the idea of ventilation, which seems fairly simple. "But it's outdoors!" So was every building before you put up walls and a ceiling.

This one Italian place that I love said they had “outdoor seating” and a “heated patio”. What they really meant was that they converted their outdoor patio space into an indoor space thus making it no longer a patio, just another room.

Baller move. Yeah, don’t tell people things will be outside and then just construct a building in an outdoor space. That just makes it inside again! I’ve seen so many restaurants do this - offer outdoor space, then essentially build another building in the street with four walls and a ceiling. You just recreated

Any of the Fistful of Dollars trilogy, particularly The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

You should try reading the article in full before commenting, it’s quite helpful.

They are different. They aren’t the same genus. Maitake is Hen-of-the-woods, Grifola frondosa. Chicken-of-the-Woods is Laetiporus Sulphureus.

Mrs. Funkhouser and I sometimes read the Bob Evans logo as Bobe Vans. Now that you’ve pointed out PoeYes, it’s all I see!

Thanks to their leader, Herb, G/O Media has widely deployed the slideshow, a spectacular method of making posts suck.

Now playing

I’m linking the Townsends video here about mushroom ketchup because it seems CRIMINAL that it wasn’t mentioned in the article. I think the recipe is slightly different (it’s a direct 18th century recipe, so way different spices) but the video is such a good explanation of the history of mushroom ketchup, and as always

I disagree, but ok. That’s your personal definition.

I’ll probably hunker down and watch it tonight. Love her content, but man can it get dense and depressing.

I literally JUST finished watching her video.
