How could you possibly have known? Especially after nearly 20 years. That’s on the person you were dating not giving you a heads up (if they knew). If they didn’t, then people just need to chillllll. 

Ahhh Rugby, the only sport I attended in college for this exact reason. The short-shorts are just whipped cream on this sundae. I still couldn’t explain how this game is played if you put a gun to my head.
