My guess is the vitriol comes from all the aesthetic and philosophical trappings it's freighted with, plus the new name. I dig a lot of stoner rock/heavy psych, and no one calls it anything new or does thinkpieces on it. They're playing music that everyone knows hasn't changed since the 1970s, and no one's claiming

Like having the good future from Back to the Future II—it's what we thought the future would look like in the past, and it looks even better with how the actual future turned out to suck.

Take it, Ota!

And bonus points for not using any slurs!

Sorry, I wasn't clear—I was talking about myself; I wasn't a Bernie Bro.

First of all, I reall like your take on where he's going, or thinks he's going, as an artist. Sounds spot on to me.

Like a lot of you, I'm walking around feeling gutted. Trying to enjoy things, but it's what I imagine it would be like if you'd killed someone and weren't a psychopath: no matter what you're doing, your brain will eventually interrupt it by reminding you there's a giant black cloud hanging over your life.

It's brilliant. Also very short for a novel (~185 pages), so it won't take you long at all. Oh, and seriously fucking creepy.

I was at a pop culture conference recently where one of the presenters did a thing on Zodiac. I was surprised that it's apparently faded out of memory for a lot of people; it's so good! I also hadn't known that Fincher was a kid in the Bay Area at the time of the actual Zodiac murders, remembers a police a escort

I really need to see Mulholland Drive again, for sort of the opposite reason as you. When I saw it (also in my early 20s), I was already a Lynch fan, and I thought it was very similar to Lost Highway, and that you could really tell it was supposed to've been a tv series by how little of it added up, even by Lynch

The MPAA refuses to tell anyone who's on the board or what their ratings criteria are. So, yes.

Thanks!

We really believe in people.

He didn't even say "my bad."

That's a really interesting idea, with the large problem that moving is hideously expensive and most cities will represent a cost of living increase on top of that, even if they did just ditch all their stuff and took a bus.

What, you haven't heard that CNN stands for "Clinton News Network"? Gotta brush up on your Breitbart.

I agree, and I've already heard them invoked in this manner. Good to know people are thinking it in multiple places.

GE dodged taxes completely. Job creation or none, you shouldn't be allowed to get away with that shit. Loophole closing ought to be a tax priority.

Yeah, as re: W. and rigging, I think Hanlon's Razor applies: never attribute to malice that which is explicable by incompetence.

I go back and forth. I'm numb, then I read Facebook and I rage and feel terrified. Then I can be kind of OK like last night and plan to go out tonight. Then I read FB this morning, etc.
