While I completely agree that it's not "broken," at least from a sales/popularity standpoint, I really am ready for Snyder to find a way back to writing smaller-scale detective stories along the lines of his first work on the Detective title. The cycle of hype and (just for me, personally) increasingly frequent

I thought that io9 piece was mostly spot on (which was encouraging to see; that site seems to be a bit all over the map recently).

Great point about the differences between the storytelling styles of Aaron and Rucka. Southern Bastards and Black Magick are both top-notch books - but I'd tend to bet on a Rucka book reading slightly better as a trade.

Oh and speak of the devil, Bleeding Cool just reported that Snyder is leaving the main Batman title this summer to move back to Detective…

Right, I think the way he's written The Vision so far suggests he could do creepy/weird (and yes, self-contained) Bat-stories in a way that would be really refreshing. And I wouldn't mind seeing DC put Snyder on another big book/character that could benefit from his kind of storytelling. I don't know what that would

Sigh. I bailed out of the book after the end of the Endgame arc, just felt "weary" of the Snyder vision, I suppose. Part of it, perhaps, was this sense that every enemy had to represent a big idea/concept - or perhaps my problem was that Snyder (of whom I am a fan) was so transparent about that. And part of it was

I'm really curious to see what that other book/project is. The way things have been going for King, I wouldn't be completely shocked if they end up positioning him to take Detective (w/ Grayson set up as the main character for a few arcs) and then the main Batman title. Which would be absolutely fine with me.

That question just went off in my head like a grenade.

That's basically where I'm at. Generally I feel like even Marvel/DC trade sales come along often enough that, at least for now, it makes sense to wait + as I said in another thread, I'm about to try a Marvel Unlimited subscription (yes, I can handle the six-month delay).

I get that, and sure, there are exceptions. I just raised an eyebrow over this one because it comes as I'm leaning much more toward trade-waiting pretty much everything anyway. (Which should translate to a more enjoyable reading experience and perhaps a bit of savings, depending.)

I actually spotted a couple things that I'm curious-to-excited about:

Nice. I'm gearing up to try it, probably at the entry level price tier.

I'm willing to ask what is probably a dumb question: how does Oliver know a specific detail about how the art team on a book is working together, e.g. "For the last two issues, Rossmo has been providing finishes over Brian Level’s breakdowns, and Level is matching the ingenuity of Rossmo’s work in his striking

I'm in the exact same place on the exact same books (Huck, Injection and Snow Blind).

Do you have a Marvel Unlimited subscription? If so, how are you liking it?

I might be one of the few who read it, but if you're looking for a decent post-Vertigo Constantine story (other than the current DC ongoing, which is quite good as Simon noted), I'd suggest maybe that Si Spencer/Sean Murphy "City of Demons" story from 2010. (So, pre- the New 52 book, which was weak.)

I'd recommend a look at that Black Widow book - I quite liked it.

Literally the only thing I picked up this week was Huck #3. I've put myself on a trade-waiting diet for virtually everything else. (And I like Huck so far, I just still sense that Millar is going to do something astonishingly brutal to the character at some point. It feel like a baby playing with a jack-in-the-box - I

On a related topic - anyone see the preview of Captain Marvel #1 (by, amazingly, the Agent Carter showrunners)? Sad to say I was not really impressed, though obviously that's after seeing only a few pages. Still hoping it turns out to be good. (Had the opposite experience with the recent Doctor Strange re-launch:

Interesting. I quit after the first two issues - but I saw a preview of the Serpent Society story and thought I should catch back up.
