I had a friend who was a huge Zevon fan before I knew much about him aside from maybe hearing "Excitable Boy" on the radio.

When you've listened to most of his work a few times, you really start to hear the influence he had on… everyone else you listen to. It's fantastic, his music and his performance style informed so many artists. And they took something, each of them something different, and they went off and made great music and art…
